Mimi's thoughts ~
The thinker of the bird world! Ravens are some of the longest lived, most intelligent birds out
there. In Yellowstone they have figured out how to pull open zippers on backpacks to sneak
visitors' snacks. In our parking lot at the Fishing Bridge Visitor Center, I see a family of
ravens perch in the lodgepole pines, watching to see new vehicles drive in and park. Then
they fly down to the ground and inspect each car's grill for freshly squashed bugs! They strut
along and hop high to pluck the tastiest bugs from the visitor's trip across country. Now,
there's a bunch of awesome bird brains!

Mimi's thoughts ~
Isn't he a jaunty character? I marvel at the costumes that the jungle fowl wear! I met this
fine fellow while visiting Kauai. He was not shy, so I took many photos of him to work
from. I plan to draw more chickens and roosters very soon.

Mimi's thoughts ~
These puffins were totally absorbing to paint. I had fun with portraying their
round, soft, feathered bellies and capable swimming feet. Their faces look like
they were designed by French high fashion designers. I've never painted squid
before this painting and found that they are such expressive critters.
