Mimi's thoughts ~
The Great Blue Heron is the soul of
patience, focus and persistence. I admire
their grace and superior fit with their
habitat. They are my buddies while fishing
(they ALWAYS catch, even when the
"fish'ns slow") and have a way of
commuting with the coolest flapping wing
beats. They are the Statesmen of the Bird
World.
I fell in love drawing this heron. The
pastels lend themselves perfectly to
portraying the feather types. I will work
on more herons in the near future.

Mimi's thoughts ~
This was an endearing bird I saw one winter, while visiting Everglades National Park, in
Florida. I'd never seen a Tricolor heron before, so I spent quite a while, peacefully watching
this elegant bird one sunny morning. Take a look at the different textures I drew: smooth
beak, clear eye, soft feathers, scaled - tough feet.
