Mimi's thoughts ~
I have spent many mornings and evenings
out on skis. I feel these times are very
special. There are no crowds and the
silence is as strong as the visual elements.
This pastel is a favorite because of the ski
trail leading off into the wintery distance.
There's nothing better than an endless ski
day. Mt. Hood makes it's own light, too. I
live for the edges of the day when the light
show is really on.

Mimi's thoughts ~
When we are lucky enough to get an
Indian Summer day in the fall, I head up to
Timberline Lodge on Mt. Hood. Take the
Timberline Trail off to the west of the
lodge and you can follow it for 40 plus
miles around this amazing volcano. The
colors and views will recharge you.
Afterwards, stop in the lodge for a bite to
eat or head down to Government Camp's
Huckleberry Inn for an amazing
huckleberry milkshake or pancakes.

Mimi's thoughts ~
My sister and I are devoted Nordic skiers. For the past
two winters we have spent nearly every weekend kicking
and gliding and skate skiing over snow. This view of Mt.
Hood reminds me about the countless benefits to winter
sports. There is so much color and light bouncing around
when the snow covers the ground. I love the winter
softened colors of our tough, volcanic land. I enjoyed
drawing the heavy, laden hemlock and firs. This winter
has been so snowy!
