Writing:
I've recently been a guest contributor to an international online fly-fishing
website called,
Sexyloops.com.  Check out my article on the similarities of
art and fly fishing from my
June 11,2008 front page piece.
Be sure to click on the
Picture of the Day link that shows a slide show of
how I do my art from blank canvas to finished piece! COOL!
Check out my
July 30, 2008 front page piece to read about my fishing trip
to the high mountain lakes of Central Oregon and the inspiration I gained
from that trip to make new art.  You'll see the background images and the
new art created from it.   Thank you to my friend, Matt Klara, who is the
regular writer-contributor to this website.  He's given me the opportunity to
go international in this forum.

Film:
Our Salmon Nation Artist Project CD was the subject of a 4 minute short
film.  I am interviewed while painting in this film.  You can watch it via
YouTube, or Jack Johnson's website.  It's a very momentous and beautiful
video, packed with Northwest talent.  Plus, they caught me painting my
largest art to date (my 4 x 4 ft new Salmon art!).  Great music and
wonderful cause!
New Art & Techniques:
I was asked by my friends, Justin and Travis, who own The West
Yellowstone Fly Shop,  to paint a series of large trout art to decorate their
shop in Montana.  I found a new style of art from this inspiration!  I
woodburn my design on pine panels and use acrylic paints to capture the
vibrant fish.  I enjoy tinting the colors and preserving the woodgrain
through the fish's body.  These signs are 18 x 48".

I'm currently working an a similar commission for
Arrick's Fly Shop in West
Yellowstone.

If you would like me to paint your favorite fish in this format, please send
me an email with your reference photo.  I can paint this size and larger, or
even smaller like you see below.

The two fish above are 16 x 22", framed size. Please contact me if you have
any requests.  I welcome commissions!

Salmon Nation Artist Project

Here is the background:

"Salmon Nation Artists Project is a tribute to the unique blend of communities, history and
sustainable attitudes of the Salmon Nation bioregion. Over thirty artists represent these elements
through poetry, music, stories, photographs and fine art in a unique auditory CD compilation and
accompanying visual art booklet.

The booklet is a tribute to the creative communities within the Salmon Nation bioregion and a
culmination of over two years of collaboration between artists, individuals, organizations and
community members. It consists of stories, poems, quotes and biographies of each participating
artist, as well as 15 original works of fine art: stunning photographs, paintings and prints.

The CD weaves Fisher Poets, Celilo Tribal Elders and singer/songwriters together, creating a
unique blend of sounds and styles. The overlying message of Salmon Nation ties us back to the
land, to our people, our communities and our future; a cultural thread singing a story we cannot
tell on our own."
